Jonas De Geer, född 1971, är en svensk författare och journalist. De Geer har även gjort sig känd som uttalad nationalist och katolik, aktiv inom det s.k. Pius X-brödraskapet SSPX. Han är son till Handelsprofessorn Hans De Geer.

Efter studier på Stockholms Universitet var han under en kortare tid frilans för bland andra Finanstidningen och SvD. Tillsammans med Per-Olof Bolander grundade han Samtidsmagasinet Salt.

De Geer har på senare tid medverkat i Tidskrift för Folkets Rättigheter, Nonkonform, Folkets Nyheter och Nordisk Frihet. De Geer har bland annat talat vid Salemmarschen som arrangeras till minne av den av invandrare mördade nazisten Daniel Wretström och har varit presstalesman för Nationaldemokraterna.^[1]

Idag är han bosatt i Storbritannien och är verksam i svensk samhällsdebatt huvudsakligen genom sitt bloggande på den identitära portalen Motpol.

In the late 1990s, it seemed like an epidemic had hit American schools: Children were acquiring guns and bombs, and then going to school to kill teachers and classmates. Various cultural influences were targeted for blame, such as Stephen King’s novel, Rage, a film, The Basketball Diaries, and the Pearl Jam video, “Jeremy.” Violent videogames also entered the discussions, as did the influences of cults like Satanism. Yet a look back reveals some of the earlier incidents as well. The following is a timeline of school violence that grabbed national attention:

• January 1979 — Brenda Spencer, 17, got a rifle for Christmas and used it to shoot into an elementary school across the street from her home in San Diego, California. Eight children and a police officer were injured, and two men lost their lives protecting the kids. When the six-hour standoff finally ended, Brenda explained with a shrug, “I don’t like Mondays.”
• March 2, 1987 — Nathan Ferris, 12, was an honor student in Missouri, where he finally got tired of being teased. He brought a pistol to school and when a classmate made fun of him, he killed the other boy. Then he turned the gun on himself. He had warned a friend not to attend school that day, signaling his plans, but no one had listened to this overweight loner.

Delicious was the first site that introduced me to the social bookmarking phenomenon. There have been many clones since then but social bookmarking has always been Delicious to me.

The concept is simple and genius: you can bookmark any page for further reference, quickly find it when you need it using the combination of tags you associated the story with; moreover, you can access your bookmarks from any computer because they are stored online and share your favorite web pages with anyone.

It sounds so simple and yet so convenient that it is hard to imagine someone not using it! Of course, like any service, it needs some tricks so that anyone can customize it to match his or her specific needs and personality.

MARCHING TO THE TUNE OF THE INCREDIBLE STRING BAND

It took awhile before I clicked with psychedelic folk music, but it all started when I decided to buy an album by t he Incredible String Band. This was partly prompted by Boards of Canada mentioning ISB in various interviews. I was curious how an acid-folk band could have an impact on the mysterious synth-laden tunes of Boards of Canada. I bought The Hangman’s Beautiful Daughter (Hannibal), originally released in 1968, and it took some getting into. After all, I was listening to a lot of electronic music at the time, which seemed polar opposite to the jangle-riddled acoustic clusters of the Incredible String Band. But after three or four listens, I was hooked, and I also realized there was some kind of link to be made with electronic music.

The Incredible String Band’s music is so horizontal. Each track travels in a free and meandering way, not adhering to a metronome or a beat. It doesn’t appear to be conveniently divided into sections such as verse/chorus/verse, and there is an amazing story-like structure to the group’s early work that sounds like some drug-induced, observant comment on life and fantasy, One minute you’re sitting on a garden wall saying “hallo” to the baker; the next minute you’re skating on happy valley pond surrounded by various ministers or playing cards in a tent with soldiers. These sections feel natural, never spliced together or contrived.
It is quite clear after a few listens that rather than this “piano roll” method of composing – often the way with digitally recorded music – the Incredible String Band’s arrangements were in the band members’ heads. ISB seems to know its songs like one would know his or her garden or favorite spot in the woods. ISB knows where the oak, willow and pine live, but these musical elements seem to have a mind of their own, meaning that each performance is more like a snapshot of the band members’ souls than a recital of a creation they once made.

How did this music affect me? I was listening to a lot of electronic music, studying arts in London and also played guitar. I was already training my ears to the fine resolution of intricate electronic music and had a fair bit of knowledge in sound and technology. The Bibio project had a pulse and was already sounding a little folky in parts. I had been sampling and arranging my own guitar playing for a few years, but listening to ISB made me want to bring a new element to my music, a meandering, twisty quality. I think the bridge between glitchy electronica and the jangly folk stuff was reinforced by listening to My Bloody Valentine’s Loveless. The fact that ISB was “captured” on magnetic tape also factored into my love for the group’s sound. The acoustic sounds and the analog equipment seem to walk hand in hand.

The first bunch of Bibio tracks influenced by ISB were “Bewley in White,” “Lakeside,” and “Cluster at Cwm Einion” off my debut, fi (Mush). “Cluster” was more of an attempt at the meandering, tangled, wooden, confused approach that was more related to ISB’s Beautiful Daughter. That album contained these little outlandish acoustic collages that seem inspired by observing the wonderful intricacies in nature. I don’t know if psilocybin or LSD helped during these observations. Either way, they’re beautiful and strange, and I’ll never be able to shake off the feeling I had when I first discovered them.

Most of the digital images and pictures you see on the web are raster graphics images or bitmaps (.bmp). A raster graphics image is simply defined with a grid of pixels that are set to certain colors. Raster graphics images are resolution dependent and cannot be made larger without loss of apparent quality. Therefore, for images that need to be scaled to higher resolution often it is better to use vector graphics.

Images that are rendered using vector graphics will scale to any size and still maintain smooth edges. This is ideal for dealing with things such as fonts and logos. Inkscape is an open source vector graphics editor that you can use to convert raster images to vector graphic images.

I will demonstrate how to use Inkscape to convert the Inkscape logo above into an SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) image. SVG is a vector graphics file format.

First of all you will need to download Inkscape and install it. It’s available for Mac OS X and Windows, and of course with the source you can compile it on Linux and other platforms as well.

Seven years earlier in 1989, Ramirez had been convicted on 43 counts, including 13 murders, and the authorities have good reason to believe that he had committed several others.   For over a year starting in the spring of 1985, the residents of Los Angeles County lived in fear of the anonymous “Night Stalker” as he was called, forcing many to alter their nighttime habits, install better locks on their doors and windows, and invest in electronic security systems.  The newspapers dubbed him the Night Stalker because he always attacked at night like a vampire.

From the so bad it’s good department comes this hijacking of the Songsmith software. By now you’ve seen the gag-inducing ad. Intended for people to record their vocals into and then turn into a shitty song, canny audiologists are instead taking vocals from famous songs and letting the software see what monsters it can come up with.

Techno versions of Oasis! Lounge music from Van Halen!! Eurotrash from Metallica!!! But I’ll be damned if this mariachi version of The Police’s ‘Roxanne’ isn’t the best song so far this year. I’m not even joking.

In terms of sound, hauntology is a question of hearing what is not here, the recorded voice, the voice no longer the guarantor of presence (Ian P: ‘Where does the Singer’s voice GO, when it is erased from the dub track?’) Not phonocentrism but phonography, sound coming to occupy the dis-place of writing.
